Writing Update #11: Starting a Second Project

I haven’t shared a writing update since before our wedding in April! I don’t know if anyone likes these updates, but I certainly do because they hold me accountable. I’m still working on my contemporary romance novel set in the Adirondacks, but I did start a brand new project as well. But this time, I’m not writing alone.

Amber and I are writing together! We started a project that I LOVE. You know how writers say they wrote the book they wanted to read? That’s how both of these stories feel and I am giddy with excitement.

I also have to say, having a writing partner is a dream. Amber and I hold each other accountable on both our projects and I feel very lucky that we found each other in this corner of the internet. I’m always amazed by the overlap of similarities between writing and acting. Having partners to critique and evaluate your work is so important. Already I feel like my writing is stronger and I’m much more motivated.

Like I say in every writing update, I can’t wait to share them with you. But as I’ve chatted with more and more writers, I know what a daunting thing it is to share your heart with the world. These two stories mean the world to me and I am having so much fun writing them.

Balancing two projects isn’t easy but I’ve found that more I discover and understand my characters, the easier it is to go between multiple worlds. My contemporary romance is a story I know backwards and forwards at this point, so editing that story is like coming home. This second book is still new but I adore it and it’s been a joy to uncover.
