A little bit of life and a lot of book reviews.

10 Books That Feel Like Autumn

I feel like I’m always on the lookout for atmospheric reads and not just the same ones I mention all the time. I’m sure you understand that I love The Simple Wild and it ticks all the boxes for a solid read any time of year 😂 Cozy atmosphere, summer travel, swoony romance…okay okay, I promise I will be sharing NEW books in this list.

If you’ve been a reader for a while, you’ll know I don’t often read thrillers or horror, so my version of Fall is cozy and romantic, with a little bit of fantasy thrown in.

The City Baker’s Guide to Country Living by Louise Miller

I talk about this book often but it is quintessential Autumn cozy vibes. A big city baker finds herself working at an Inn in Vermont. She falls in love, with a man and a town.

House of Salt and Sorrows by Erin A. Craig

This dark retelling, twelve cursed sisters live in an isolated manor by the sea. But after four of the sisters' lives end too soon, Annaleigh begins to suspect her sisters’ deaths were no accident. This book is dark, glamorous, and suspenseful. Perfect for Fall!

The Year of the Witching by Alexis Henderson

I loved this creepy, witchy novel set in Puritan times. It has an element of The Crucible and The Scarlett letter!

A Study in Scarlet Women by Sherry Thomas

A loosely veiled Sherlock Holmes retelling with a woman in the titular role. Historical romance meets gripping suspense in this sexy series.

Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson

When I think of Fall, I can’t help but think of back to school. This YA mystery series is so well loved, following True Crime aficionado Stevie and her group of friends at an illustrious boarding school in Vermont.

Nevermoor by Jessica Townsend

A middle grade novel that is the first in a well loved magical series about a young girl who is cursed to die on her twelfth birthday, only to swept away to a magical land called Nevermoor.

The Diviners by Libby Bray

This is one that has been making the rounds on TikTok the last few months! It takes place in 1920’s NYC, with Evie living with her uncle Will, trying to conceal her supernatural powers from his obsession with the occult. It’s part glamorous coming of age, urban fantasy, and murder mystery.

Bewitching You by Katana Collins

I saw this on Kindle Unlimited and just had to include it! The main character’s name is Kandi Cornne ( 😅) so it could be on the cheesy side…but the reviews seem solid! Small town candy shop owner in the New England town of Maple Grove meets a sexy pumpkin farmer in October. Seems like a sexy Hallmark esque story!

The Simplicity of Cider by Amy E. Reichert

The title alone sold me on this one! It’s billed as a love story with a touch of magic, set in Door County, Wisconsin and starring a 5th generation Cider mill owner and a single dad fleeing heartbreak.

Cedar Ridge by Maris Parker

A damsel in distress flees a cheating fiance and meets a Wyoming rancher, who also has been burned by a lover. A sweet and spicy small town romance!

Talia Hibbert can do no wrong and her Ravenswood series is no exception! It’s a small town romance between a neurodivergent comic book nerd and former military man.

Have I screamed about how much I love this series enough yet? A new adult hockey romance set on a Massachusetts college campus. So. Good.

Meet Me on Love Lane by Nina Bocci

How does one not include a book with a cover like this? Charlotte Bishop escapes New York City and head to her hometown of New Hope, Pennsylvania after her boss blacklisted her at work. It’s only supposed to be temporary but what happens when she’s torn between two homes and two men?

Well Met by Jen DeLuca

Though this book is set during a summer Renaissance Faire, it has always given me Gilmore Girls vibes. It’s a sexy, fun, sweet romance that will have you craving a night out with your neighbors.

What is Fall without Football? The Intercepted series by Alexa Martin is about the wives and girlfriends of NFL players and it is just so much fun.
