My 2022 NaNoWriMo Goals

I’ve been writing my whole life. i’ve always had the goal to publish a book and that has only intensified over the years. I started doing NaNoWriMo in 2019 and had inconsistent success with the challenge to write 50,000 words during the month of November. Last year was the first time I officially completed the challenge and managed to write over 80,000 words over two projects.

I talked about this a little bit in my November Bucket List, but last year I was determined to write in two different projects. That will NOT be happening this year. I’m starting a brand new project that I’ve wanted to write since last year and I am very excited about it. I think it will be the perfect break from my two drafts.

I’ve been calling them “Project ADK” (my solo project) and “Project L+N” (my dual POV project with Amber) and they are both in good shape. Project ADK is on it’s 4th draft and I’m excited to let the story breathe so I can go back to it and make revisions for the final draft before I try to sell it. Project L+N has been so fun to work on in. I will be going back to that book in January to finish it’s third draft.

Now, this sounds like a lot. And it totally is. But I love it and I’ve learned a lot about myself as a writer in the last year and this is the system that words for me. Writing is a discipline so I like to have multiple projects in different stages to work on in order to keep my skills and schedule fresh.

So, since this is a new project, here are my goals!

The biggest thing I’ve learned in the last 2-3 years is to keep things simple but be disciplined in what I’m trying to achieve. I need to strike the right balance between being gentle with myself and take breaks when I need them and push myself to stick to my goals.

I am really excited for this season! If you’re not interested, don’t worry, plenty of book recommendations will still be coming!

If you’re writing, happy writing and good luck!
