Review: Wild and Wrangled by Lyla Sage
Thank you to The Dial Press for my copy! All thoughts are my own.
This was a book that I wanted to savor and speed through. I have become enamored with the world Lyla Sage has created at Rebel Blue Ranch. It may not exist, but I’ve never wanted to visit Wyoming before in my life. Now, it’s been added to the bucket list. Cam’s story was always one I was interested in getting, especially after seeing Gus fall in love in Lost and Lassoed. I think it was a fitting end to the story, though I do wish we would have gotten to see the wedding of one very special couple in the epilogue.
Synopsis:
“Camille Ashwood had always loved a plan. Her latest was her best yet. She was going to get married so she could secure her daughter’s future, get her overbearing parents off her back, and finally start building her own life in small-town Meadowlark, Wyoming. Easy, right?
But when her groom doesn’t show up to the wedding, Cam’s life is turned upside down—she doesn’t even have a place to live. That is until she finds out the house she’s loved since high school is available to rent. There’s only one problem: the neighbor.
Dusty Tucker has spent nearly all of his adult life running. Running from what, though? More like who: Cam Ashwood. But ever since he returned home last year, the girl who was his first, well, everything has become a woman seemingly determined to keep him at arm’s length. And he was okay with that—at least, that’s what he kept telling himself. She was getting married, after all. But now she’s single and living next door. Dusty wants to show her that they can be friends, and that he can stay put.
Despite her best attempts to stay far away from Dusty Tucker, Cam realizes that being close to him is like slipping into her favorite jeans. Easy. Comfortable. That is until past wounds start to open and feelings—both old and new—wreak havoc.” —NetGalley
What I Liked:
The Setting—I am an East Coast girl through and through, but these books have made me crave the west in a way I never have!
The Characters—I love them all so much. THe found family and real family aspects I think can be so healing for so many readers. Also Dusty Tucker, good lord does that man have a way with words.
The Trope—I’m a sucker for a good second chance Romance. I liked how this played out with short flashbacks and notes.
What Didn’t Work:
The Pacing—I’m not sure why exactly, but something felt off with how things played out and it might just be that I haven’t read a second chance in a while.
