Review: In Every Possible Way by Alicia Thompson

Thank you Berkley for my copy! All thoughts are my own.

If you’re looking for a unique romance that doesn’t feel like everything else on the market, Alicia Thompson is a great author to try. Especially in this book, it brings everything we love about contemporary romance to the table mixed with a little magical realism and originality. I liked this book, didn’t love it, but still found it enjoyable.

Synopsis:

“After yet another disastrous date where Jess is too awkward, too earnest, too whatever, she’s ready to put her romantic daydreams aside. Other than an enchanting Irish accent, her latest date is no prince charming. Then the night goes from bad to worse when she’s mugged in the parking lot and hits her head. Hard.

Hard enough that when Jess wakes up, she’s in Ireland.

The first person she meets is Eamonn, a quiet, gruff mechanic. Since Jess is stranded with no passport, cell phone, or way to get home, Eamonn becomes her reluctant knight in shining armor.

Over the next forty-eight hours, they meander through the cobblestone streets of Dublin and explore the Irish countryside, sharing their deepest fears, quiet hopes, and softest aches. It’s a connection that is as electrifying as it is terrifying, because what if Jess falls asleep and Eamonn vanishes like a dream? But a love like this—touched by magic and a little bit of luck—is never quite as it seems.” —NetGalley

What I Liked:

  1. The Premise—Fun! Original! Unexpected!

  2. The Setting—I love Ireland and I feel like there’s been an influx in romances set there lately so it’s nice to find one that doesn’t feel like all the others.

What Didn’t Work for Me:

  1. The Character’s Chemistry—I didn’t feel it!

  2. The Spice—Dare I say, it was too much for me? Or I didn’t feel the connection enough between the characters? I don’t know, just wasn’t for me.

Character Authenticity: 3/5 Spice Rating: 3/5 Overall Rating: 3/5
