Review: In Stormy Weather by Chelsea Curto

Thank you Atria Books for my copy! All thoughts are my own.

A little fun fact about me is that I LOVE storms. I grew up sailing on the coast of Connecticut and it quickly became a favorite sport and activity of mine. But it also meant I received a lot of training about weather, weather systems, and how to stay safe on the water. While my preferred weather in the Summer time is hot and sunny (reading by the pool weather), a good storm really gets me excited.

So I could not wait to read this book! And I really enjoyed it. The stormy elements and the romance make it a dramatic, steamy read for hot humid nights. And bonus for anyone who hates them, there is no third act break up in this one.

Synopsis:

“Nothing can rain on Quincy Monroe’s parade. She’s a woman in STEM with a PhD in atmospheric sciences, the host of a successful online weather show, and has one million followers on her meteorology Instagram.

Quincy has spent endless hours forging her path in this male-dominated field, becoming one of the best in the industry. And with a new job opportunity, nothing can derail her success. Except for the ill-timed arrival of Sebastian Dunn.

Sebastian is her best friend’s brother, her longtime academic and professional rival, and a flashy TV weatherman from New York City that everyone swoons over. Everyone but Quincy.

Over a scorching Florida summer and record-breaking hurricane season, Sebastian and Quincy are forced into close proximity. Setting aside their grudges to chase storms and stay alive is one thing, but can they weather the inevitable collision of their hearts?” —NetGalley

What I Liked:

  1. The Overall Concept—I LOVED the movie Twisters but wanted them to kiss at the end. This book gives you the satisfying drama of storm chasing with a fully fleshed Romance.

  2. The Stormy Drama—My favorite moments of the book were when they were out in the elements. It’s not easy to write action like that and I was on the edge of my seat.

  3. The Friend Group—I loved them and wanted more! I hope we get more books in this universe.

What Didn’t Work:

  1. The Pacing of the Romance—I didn’t love how the Romance was paced. If it was single POV and I didn’t know what was going on in Sebastian’s head, I think I would have enjoyed it more.
